The Food Source here, with just a brief note.
When I got up and fed the cats Christmas Day, Radcliff was having a bit more trouble with his back legs than normal, but otherwise he seemed OK, or at least no worse than usual. (He had been battling arthritis in his back legs for several years)
After I had washed up and gotten dressed, I went back into the kitchen, and Radcliff was laying dead on the middle of the kitchen floor.
I'll post more information on this later, but I just thought some of you might want to know about this.

Please know that there was nothing that you could have done. From what you describe, Radcliff may have had an undiagnosed heart problem like HCM and the hind leg weakness can be a symptom that the circulation is impaired.
I have lost 3 cats to HCM and they sometimes do what you describe. Radcliff knows you loved him and that may that thought help you through this difficult time.
