V*T Visits

We could use some purrrrrss and healing thoughts for a couple of the kitties.

First, late yesterday afternoon the little stray kitten decided he really didn't like what I was giving him, or something.  He went from "gimme the food, I'm starving" to "meh, not in the mood" pretty much from one feeding to the next.  If I stick the bottle in his mouth and keep it there, he will swallow a little, but keeps trying to slide the bottle out of the side of his mouth.  Not sure if he is trying to tell me I need a new bottle, or he is tired of the Glop, or what.  I took him to the V*T, but I couldn't tell me much I didn't already know.  The kitten is still lively and noisey, so he just might be tired of me waking him up every couple hours to stick the nipple in his mouth.

Second, Grace O'Malley is scheduled for her Lady-Garden-Ectomy tomorrow morning, so she is going to be a very unhappy kittie this evening when I lock her in the utility room.  She'll probably be even crankier tomorrow night.

Think of us all if you get a moment.

With Bug - mom let the kitten wake her up. She ate much better when SHE decided she was hungry - not when MOM decided she should be hungry.... of course, this led to a little screaming sometimes if mom was too slow on the draw. MOL

Purrs to Grace....it is never fun

could be the glop.. but it is probably she's just full. Does she have a belly like a jello mold? all firm and stuck outwards a little? Not all kittens have a stomach that ends up being bigger then their head when full, but they often have one that is the same size :)

Vets often don't have much experience with neonatal kittens..

As long as you are getting about two ounces of food in her a day (about 55 ccs spread out over the day) based on the thought she is about two weeks old..

Best wishes to Grace O'Malley.. I'm sure everything will be fine.

We are sending the kitten and Grace large rumbly purrs and love. Good luck tomorrow Grace!

We like the idea of allowing the kitten to run the feeding schedule a little too.

Maybe it's time the kitten had his own name?

Our thoughts are with you. I would suggest (like many others) to let kitten decide when he/she is hungry.
